Miramichi Golf & Country Club

 

After you put away your rod and reel, you can still take advantage of the beautiful Miramichi River region. 

Bring your clubs and play a round at Miramichi Golf & Country Club, only 30 minutes from Black Rapids Retreat. The course offers a serene landscape made up of New Brunswick’s mighty evergreens, and features a par 71 course, driving range, and a clubhouse is recognized as one of Canada’s Historic Places. Beaubears Island Historical site


Take a short drive to Beaubears Island Historical site and enjoy 6 km of hiking trails and interpretive island tours. 

Nestled along the Miramichi River, Beaubears Island Shipbuilding and Boishébert National Historic Sites offer a captivating blend of maritime history, Acadian heritage, and First Nation culture amidst old-growth pines, according to Parks Canada. Visitors can explore the shipbuilding heritage of the area, and enjoy walks and hikes on the islands, being immersed in the rich histories and cultures within the serene landscapes of Eastern Canada.


Fall Brook Falls


A bit farther afield, Fall Brook Falls offers visitors a chance to experience the highest continual running waterfall in New Brunswick. Only an hour from the retreat, this breathtaking 30m (100ft) waterfall is a surprise, after the 1.4 km hike that follows the small Fall Brook stream. The trail takes hikers down into the ravine, where they are surrounded on three sides by sheer rock faces. The pool at the bottom makes a great place to swim on a hot summer day.


Gallan Tubing


Gallan Tubing gets you up close and personal with the Miramichi River. Located practically next door to Black Rapids Retreat, Gallan Tubing operates on a first-come-first-served, weather permitting basis. Bring your friends and family and enjoy a few hours floating down a beautiful stretch of the Miramichi.
